How this affects our content

Affiliate relationships do not influence which products we recommend or how we rank them. Our editorial recommendations are based solely on research, product merit, and value to the reader. A product only enters a lineup if it clears the criteria we publish in that page's How We Evaluated section.

One detail worth spelling out: commission rates vary widely, from about 1% on some Amazon categories to 20% or more when a brand runs a promotional program, and that spread can sit inside a single comparison. Our fluoride vs. hydroxyapatite toothpaste coverage is an example: fluoride brands currently pay us near the Amazon minimum while several hydroxyapatite brands run higher-rate programs. Those rates are set by Amazon and the brands, and they change without notice. They never override our editorial standards: we have declined high-rate products that failed our review threshold, and where the evidence points that way we direct readers toward prescription options that pay us little or nothing.
