About Dental Roundup
Dental Roundup is an independent guide to oral-health products. We compare toothpastes, mouthwashes, tools and treatments — and lay out what the research, the manufacturers, and real users actually say — so you can decide faster and buy with more confidence.
Today that's 450+ products compared across 107 guides, reviews and comparisons — updated as products change and new evidence lands.
Who's behind Dental Roundup
Dental Roundup is written and edited by its founder, Maitiú — who is not a dentist, and says so plainly. Nothing here is clinical advice, and the site doesn't claim a dental degree or a medical review board it doesn't have.
Maitiú started Dental Roundup after a pattern he kept seeing in years of SEO, growth-marketing and digital-publishing work: people researching a product would begin on traditional review sites, then leave to dig through Reddit, forums and community threads for real-world experience. It was especially true for oral-health products, where many "reviews" restate the manufacturer's claims or list features — without surfacing what users actually report, where a product disappoints, or how it lines up with the evidence. Dental Roundup exists to help close that gap.
How we research products
We use AI as a research and editorial tool — to build and run the forum-research and evidence-synthesis pipelines behind our work, and to help shape early drafts. Every page is then directed, fact-checked against primary sources, and edited by Maitiú, who stands behind everything published here.
We don't run clinical trials, and we don't test products in a lab. What we do is bring several kinds of evidence together and weigh them:
- Published research and dental associations (the ADA, peer-reviewed studies, and similar authoritative sources) — the primary basis for health-related claims.
- Manufacturer information — what a product is supposed to do, treated as a claim to check, not a fact to repeat.
- Verified customer reviews — patterns across large numbers of real buyers.
- Real-world community discussions (Reddit, forums) — a useful source of lived experience and context, weighed alongside the published evidence above, never treated as clinical proof on their own.
Against that, we weigh each product on active-ingredient evidence, value across price points, everyday usability, and suitability for specific needs (sensitivity, braces, gum issues) — then say what we found, including where a popular product falls short.
What we don't do
We don't make medical claims or diagnose anything. The goal is to help you walk into your dentist's office better informed — not to replace the person who knows your mouth, your history and your X-rays. For anything specific to your health, talk to your dentist.
